How to choose LED display according to dot pitch
What is dot spacing?
The dot pitch reflects the pixel density from the distance between two pixels. The dot pitch and pixel density are the physical properties of the display screen; the information capacity is the quantitative unit of the information carrying capacity displayed at one time by the pixel density per unit area. The smaller the dot pitch, the higher the pixel density, the more information capacity can be displayed per unit area at one time, and the closer the viewing distance is. The larger the dot pitch, the lower the pixel density, the smaller the information capacity per unit area that can be displayed at one time, and the farther the viewing distance is.
How to choose the LED display dot pitch?
The selection of the dot pitch of the led display is related to two factors:
1. LED display viewing distance
Where the display is placed and how far people usually stand to see it is just an important factor in determining the dot pitch when choosing an LED display.
Generally, there is a formula Optimum viewing distance = dot spacing/(0.3~0.8), which is an approximate range. For example, for a display screen with a dot pitch of 16mm, the best viewing distance is 20 to 54 meters. If the standing distance is closer than the minimum distance, you can distinguish each pixel of the display screen. The graininess is relatively strong, and you can stand far away. The human eye cannot distinguish the features of the details. (We are aiming at normal vision, excluding nearsightedness and farsightedness). In fact, this is also an approximate number.
For outdoor LED displays, P10 or P12 is generally used for short distances, P16 or P20 for farther ones, and P4~P6 for indoor displays, and P7.62 or P10 for farther ones.
2. the total number of pixels of the LED display.
For video, the basic ones are VCD format with a resolution of 352*288 and DVD format with a resolution of 768*576. So for the video screen, we recommend that the minimum resolution is not lower than 352*288, so that the display effect is good enough. If it is lower, it can be displayed, but it cannot achieve better results.
As for the single and double primary color LED display mainly displaying text and pictures, the resolution requirements are not high. According to the actual size, the minimum font size of 9 can be determined according to the amount of your text.
Therefore, generally choose an LED display, the smaller the dot pitch, the better, the higher the resolution, and the clearer the display. However, factors such as cost, demand, and application range must also be considered comprehensively.
